| Fume Hood Testing |
| |
| GD is the first Indian Laboratory Furniture Manufacturer to have established a state-of-the-art testing laboratory at the factory to evaluate the fume hoods performance as per ASHRAE- 110 (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air - Conditioning Engineers) test as per the AM guidelines. It is a relative and quantitative determination of the efficiency of a fume hood to capture contaminants under a set of strict conditions. |
The Test Laboratory is equipped with proper room pressurization system which generates air to be exhausted from the Fume Hoods being tested. The airflow is designed to provide turbulence free air entry at the front of the Hood. The test room has tight room envelope and precision electronic controls to maintain proper room pressurization. |
| All "Labexcel" Fume Hoods are type tested for their safety performance as per tests below: |
| Flow Visualisation Test |
| For low challenge, a small quantity of smoke is used for visual study of smoke flow pattern. For high challenge flow visualization, copious amounts of smoke is generated and released into the Fume Hoods. |
| Face Velocity Test |
| The sash is divided into grids and face velocity is measured at each grid point to analyze minimum, maximum and mean face velocity. |
| Gas Containment Test |
| This is a quantitative test where in a known quantity of gas is released within the Fume Hood and its leakage is measured at a stimulated breathing zone with an ultra precision Leak Meter and analysed. |
| Sash Movement Effect Test |
| The leakage of tracer gas is measured at rapid sash movement at the stimulated
breathing zone. |
| VAV Response Test |
| This is done when VAV controls are used for Fume Hood. The time required to regain the velocity at full designed velocity is measured. |

ASHRAE 110 Testing
Labexcel Hoods are randomly selected from the production line and stringently tested as per ASHRAE 110 (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers) in India's first fully integrated 'Fume Hood Testing Laboratory' within our factory. This test is a relative and quantitative determination of the efficiency of a fume hood to capture contaminants under a set of strict conditions. |
